NEW HOME – Dalton, left and Wyatt Eisenhardt and friends visit the location of their new home in Machias. The boys have a rare genetic disorder that makes it hard for them to breathe and does not allow them to speak.
Volunteers are laboring tirelessly to finish the home that was custom built for Dalton and Wyatt Eisenhardt and their family. With all of the people who have been streaming in daily to help, the push is on to get the house finished and the family moved in before the holidays.
On Thursday, Nov. 12, 24 students and adults from The Church of the New Covenant in Mansfield, PA, joined area volunteers to help on the project. The youth group, which was on its way to a convention in upstate New York, decided to take a detour through Machias in order to strip down walls and prepare the modular shell for the dry wall that will be put up this week. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, student members of Bona’s Response from Saint Bonaventure University returned to the project site to finish the job. “Once we’re finished and the family is moved in, we’re going to need to have one big housewarming party to both welcome the family at home and thank all the volunteers,” says Pete Andrews, director of the Christian Youth Corps. Plans are underway to plan this event. To follow this project, visit
