“General Funds are in very good standing,” is what Laura Landers CPA of Freed Maxick and Battaglia told the board after doing a financial audit for the 2008 records. The board was presented with a report of all findings of the audit, and overall the general funds are in very good positions, with two major funds having a positive fund balance at the end of the year. There were a few things that the town will need to remedy, such as creating a town investment policy. Landers stated that it looked like they were using one, but it has to be a written policy, which is a NYS requirement.
Anyone interested in viewing the report is welcome to go into the clerk’s office, where they will be one on file.
The Chaffee Sidewalk Project seems to be “on track” as stated by Town Attorney Anthony DiFilippo after speaking with Chaffee Water Works attorney Peter Sorgi. Bids for the project opened last Friday. Also, Supervisor Kathleen Balus congratulated the department for a stimulus fund they received in the amount of $800,000, which was reported in Business First.
A recent update regarding the numbering of houses and businesses to aid the fire company and rescue vehicles, Balus still wants to provide house numbers to all residents. They have decided that the numbers must be reflective and green and white. The board is looking into different costs for ordering these numbers.
Bill Arlow and his partner addressed the residents and the board regarding the master plan for the parks. They want the residents input on this matter. They will listen to what the people want in their parks, and they will create the plans incorporating what the residents want to see in them. Arlow stated that it will take about 5 months to get to the final plan. Anyone interested in submitting comments or ideas for the parks may do so at SardiniaParks@prodigy.net.
