Miss Marjorie Cobo of Pontiac, Michigan spent a few days last week with Lelia and Letha Cobo.
Miss Charlotte J. Wells was graduated last week from Teachers College, Columbia University, receiving her Masters Degree.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Alford and friends of Buffalo returned Sunday from a two weeks trip to Bar Harbor, Maine, Cape Cod and Boston, Massachusetts.

Kay Ferrin, one of the town’s leading musicians, is appearing at the Erie County Fair, playing the Hammond Organ at the International Harvester tent.

August 14, 1969
Springville Youth Inc. had two First Place winners in the Erie County Junior Olympics. In the Boys Seniors Division Paul Seymour ran the 100 yard dash in a winning 10.5 seconds. Bob Kendall heaved the shot put 49 feet, 6 inches.
Mr. Sverre Saether, American Field Service International Scholarship student from Fannrem, Norway will arrive in Springville early Saturday to spend the 1969-70 school year as the guest of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Saunders and family on Ellis Avenue.

Charity Engel Cheiky, daughter of Mrs. Janet Engel of Springville, was featured in the August 6, 1979 issue of People Weekly magazine. The article relates that Charity, 26, is president of a computer company in Aurora, Ohio that expects to gross $20 million this year.
On Sunday, August 26, area residents will gather at Bluemont for a dinner to salute Dr. Edmund S. Rothschild.
From August 20 to 23, our area will again host 20 Japanese teachers.

A total of 38 elementary and secondary school teachers from Japan will be arriving at the Concord Town Hall Saturday evening, Aug. 12, as part of an exchange program called Summer Seminar in American Society.
Al and Norma Palmer of Glenwood are athletic champion medal winners, as well as champions in enjoying the game of life. They have both won numerous medals in several senior citizen competitions, including the Senior Citizen Olympics.

The village of Springville has hired its first village administrator, charged with overseeing day-to-day operations of all departments. Timothy L. Horner of Springville was named to the position, which will also include the duties of clerk/treasurer.
Bob Barnes, principal at Springville Elementary School for 23 years, said good-bye to students and parents on the last day of classes at SES on June 25. Barnes will officially retire as school starts next month. Scott Tellgren will take over as principal.
The YWCA of Western New York will offer parents dependable, affordable, safe quality child care during non-school hours this fall. An afternoon program is available at the Colden Elementary School, and a before and after school program is provided at Springville Elementary.
