Marcia Ayler will be missed at Springville-Griffith
Ayler retired on October 30
Editor:
It is with a tear and a smile that I write this message. October 30 was Marcia Ayler’s last “official” day here at S-GI. After a long and distinguished career, Marcia begins a well-deserved retirement.
For over 30 years, Marcia has been the backbone of this high school. She has personified the words commitment, dedication and care. Marcia has invested her energy and effort to support our students, teachers, parents and administration selflessly. Her lone motivation over the years has been to make S-GI High School a better place to learn, teach and work. She has exemplified professionalism and has illustrated the incredibly significant role clerical and support staff members have on the effectiveness of an organization. Simply put, without people like Marcia Ayler, S-GI cannot function at a high level.
Last year when Marcia submitted her letter of retirement, I tried to think what life here at the High School would be without her. I quickly stopped thinking about it, so as to stave off a breakdown. She leaves behind some very big shoes to fill.
Marcia has obviously touched all of our lives and made our jobs easier and more enjoyable. For many of us here at the high school, Marcia has been so much more than a secretary. She is a friend, a confidant, an advisor and sympathetic ear. She has worked well past the end of her day and taken work home - all while continuing to be a dedicated mother, wife and daughter.
Her contributions to this school community will be profoundly missed. And while we will miss her laughter her smile and quick wit, we know she will always be a Griffin and hope she visits often.
I wish Marcia and Ron Ayler all the happiness in the world in their retirement. God bless.
Vince Vanderlip
High School Principal
