The North Boston Volunteer Fire Company will dedicate their new fire hall at 5746 Herman Hill Road, North Boston, on Sunday afternoon, June 14 at 2 o’clock.
The new four-bay apparatus hall, with meeting and community room, training room, kitchen and firefighters room, was built by Kirst Construction of North Boston at a coat of approximately $960,000. Ground for the new building was broken in July 2008 with the fire company taking possession in February 2009.
At a business meeting of the fire company, Secretary Randy Seufert suggested the idea of somehow working the look of the original tower into the new hall design. The architect for the new hall, Glenn Christner of Hamburg, incorporated the theme of the original tower into the main entrance blending the old with the new. The tower now houses the original 1906 Sears, Roebuck and Co. bell purchased for $14.60 after the company was organized in 1904.
Father Joseph Bayne, Erie County Emergency Services Chaplain, will be the dedication speaker. The dedication ceremony will include music by the Boston Town Band, presentation of an American flag that flew over the Capitol Building by Congressman Brian Higgins, the unveiling of a bronze plaque recognizing those donors who contributed $500 or more to the building fund and the presentation of a wall hanging handcrafted by Mary Ann Kreuder depicting the history of the North Boston Volunteer Fire Company.
An open house will follow the dedication.
