    Mary Schlitzer
    Mary H. Schlitzer of Springville, November 14, 2009. Wife of the late Norman w. Schlitzer; mother of Nancy (Jim) James and Carl R. Schlitzer; sister of Hilda I. Guenther. Funeral services were held Monday evening at 6 o’clock from the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville. Pastor Kevin J. Friedman officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, East Aurora.

    David Beaver
    David A. Beaver, born June 12, 1937, died at home November 12, 2009 following a long illness. He was the husband of Carol; father of Jeffrey, Ricky, Michael, Star Mary, Tammy and Susan. A celebration of life service was held Tuesday evening at 7 o’clock from New Life Fellowship Church, 17 Park Street, Springville.

    Martha Dearmyer
    Martha M. Dearmyer (nee Newton) of Springville, November 14, 2009. Wife of the late Philip Dearmyer; mother of Terry G. and Duane P. Dearmyer; also survived by four grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sister of the late William Newton and Wilmetta Liddle; also survived by several nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial was in Garfield Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 East Main Street, Springville. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Springville.

    Lee Smith Edwards, Jr.
    Lee Smith Edwards, Jr., born on October 1, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully and with dignity on November 11, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer, with Carol Anne (nee Messenger), his wife of 59 1/2 years by his side and with the loving guidance of Treasure Coast Hospice. Lee, formerly of Springville, resided in Fort Pierce, Fla. He was the father of Barbara Edwards of Erie, Pa., Gail (Don) Ploetz of East Otto, Nancy (Scott) Hammerton of Penfield, and Janet (Rick) Gaskin of Angola; grandpa of Anneliese, Trevor, Olivia and Alexia Ploetz; Bryce and Keegan Hammerton; Lee, Lydia, Caroline and Ian Gaskin; also survived by a sister Elaine Breeding of Sykesville, Maryland. He was predeceased by his parents Lee and Eugenia Edwards, a brother Eugene and a grandson, Nolan Ploetz.
    Lee was an alumni of Michigan State University with a degree in civil engineering. He worked for the Michigan State Highway Department and was Bay County road commissioner prior to moving to Springville in 1964 to join the engineering firm and become partner of Pratt, Edwards and Moncreiff, Engineers and Surveyors of both Springville and Bradford, Pa.
    Lee retired in 1990 and moved to the shores of Lake Erie where he could enjoy one of his favorite pastimes, fishing. Later, he permanently moved to Florida to enjoy his favorite weather, sunny and warm.
    No service was held. A private burial at Rosehill Cemetery in Michigan will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Lee’s name to Treasure Coast Hospice, Ft. Pierce, FL, or Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville, NY where Lee was past president of the Hospital Board.
